Rally for the rights of cyclists May 7th
Recent events indicate there is a rising tension between road users in Adelaide, in particular between cyclists and car drivers. In response to this a local group of cyclists has met together and formed an action group called “Wheels of Justice - the Alliance of SA cyclists”. Wheels of Justice is made up of cyclists from many backgrounds including members of cycling avocacy groups as well as media representatives.
In the face of recent events, the conclusion drawn by the group is that awareness about the rights of cyclists as road users needs to be increased within the governmental arena. In order to bring this to light the group has decided to hold a “protest” rally for the rights of cyclists on Saturday May 7th. Starting at 9:30am, it will leave from Victoria Square and go to the steps of Parliment House.
“We need all the cyclists/bike riders we can get to this rally, to show our strength of numbers to the governement and to let the courts know the events of the recent weeks have not gone unnoticed.” Darren from Wheels of Justice. Spread the word, get on your bike and ride.
