Unsporting behaviour?

The following mp3 is from Channel Nine’s “The Footy Show”, on May 25th 2006. It’s from about the 58min mark, and we’ll kindly spare you the visuals. There’s nothing wrong with a joke or the occasional off-colour remark, but these comments from Mr S. Newman are beyond the pale. As far as we know, no apology was offered during or after the show.
It is not acceptable to joke about suggesting causing harm to fellow human beings by using a vehicle as a weapon. This week has tragically seen cyclists fatalities in Melbourne and Sydney. Ditto, the daily additions to the Victorian road toll. These shallow remarks should not be used to reinforce more ignorance and inappropriate motorist behaviour.
