NSW: Vote4Cycling.com.au

Vote4Cycling.com.au is a non-partisan campaign asking all candidates in the 24 March 2007 NSW State election their views on cycling and to commit to increased resources and support if they are elected. This web site has been supported by the Cycling Promotion Fund (CPF) a body funded by bicycle industry members to enable the industry to play an active role in promoting cycling and in making Australia more bicycle friendly.

The CPF is particularly concerned about NSW and Sydney falling behind the rest of Australia in providing support for cycling and the subsequent lower cycling rates. Please go to About Us section for more information.

Bicycles in this Election
On March 24, 2007 the people of NSW will vote to elect a new State government. While other states are investing in bicycle lanes, programmes and facilities to support and promote cycling as a healthy lifestyle and transport option, successive NSW governments have reneged on promises to deliver safer and better cycling infrastructure across the State.

Contact your Candidate
We can all make a difference in an election campaign by simply making our voice heard. There is never a better time to bend the ear of a current or aspiring politician than in the lead up to polling day. You can support our campaign by sending an email to the candidates.

Benefits of Cycling
Today more than ever before people are concerned about the environment. A recent report ‘Who Cares about the Environment’ by the NSW Department of Environment stated that more than 80% of respondents rate reducing their impacts on the environment as a major concern to their daily lives.

How you can help
In the lead up to the March 24, 2007 NSW State election we are running a public interest campaign putting pressure on all candidates across the political spectrum to commit to supporting cycling in NSW.
