Melbourne Media and the ‘Hell Ride’

This week, the Melbourne media have been reporting issues surrounding the ‘Hell Ride’ out of all proportion and are blatantly misreporting facts regarding the actual ride past the point of caricature.

This misreporting of the real issues could have inadvertent longterm consequences for all road users and could also be detrimental for a positive shared road environment.

The death of pedestrian James Gould in August 2006 was an undeniable tragedy. Lessons have been learnt from this incident, although using the Police Air Wing to control of a bunch of cyclists is a waste of resources that could be best utilised for a another purpose. Also if you have concerns regarding the media’s inappropriate over reaction, then please contact the contacts listed below to get your opinions known.

Yet again the Coppers have missed the mark. Numbers on the Hell Ride are down becuase it’s winter. Dark, Cold, and Wet. It would be far more beneficial to follow the Ride with a Chopper in Jan, Feb, and Mar, when the ride peaks to 180+ riders. Why???? It’s summer time silly.
