US: Armstrong speaks at fundraiser aimed at getting bikes for kids

9News.com: Armstrong speaks at fundraiser aimed at getting bikes for kids

Lance Armstrong credits the bicycle with his success. No surprise there. The seven-time Tour de France winner says the bicycle allowed him to travel, see the world, and allowed him to make a good living. That as he spoke at a fundraiser for a group called Kids on Bikes that buys bicycles for underprivileged children in the Colorado Springs area.

Armstrong was diagnosed with cancer in 1996 and he survived to go on to win cycling’s most grueling race. After surviving, Armstrong and Nike founded the Lance Armstrong Foundation that sold the yellow-rubber “Livestrong” wrist bands for a dollar. Sales have exceeded $65 million — which Armstrong says wouldn’t have been possible without a bicycle.
