I have recently moved from Perth, Scotland to Perth WA. As soon as my bike arrived i joined a local cycling club.I love getting out on a sat and sun morning. The only 2 things are the ammount of broken glass on the cycle strip and the mentally afflicted arseholes that seam to think bikes should only be on the pavement. I eventually would like to take my 8 year old son out with the club, but due to the above would be frightened of doing so. I wonder who can help! Police or local council?

This article is so wrong, I dont know where to begin, but ill try.

Firstly, NSW road rules require all vehicles, including cyclists to ride on the left, this means the left side of the road, not the gutter (which is what some pro- motorists, like the one from this article think). So the law states to ride on the left, since if you were riding on the right you would be riding AGAINST TRAFFIC.

Riding in the middle of the lane is completely legal, although most cyclists including me dont do it out of courtesy. I had this checked with the RTA. Sometimes allowing motorists to pass by riding in the gutter is more dangerous, because they will pass without giving you sufficent room, and are likely to injure you.

Secondly, most cyclist's except the ones to poor to earn a decent wage, pay taxes, and it is out of general revenue that roads are paid for, not registration. Registration covers mainatnance and personal injury. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE KILLED BY CYCLISTS, AND HOW MUCH DAMAGE DOES A GUY ON A 10 Kilo Bike DO?

So before adding to anti cyclist hysteria, grow a brain, and start doing some research and actual thinking before sprouting out complete rubbish like this.
