Javno.com: Chanel Launches Costly Vintage Bike
A vintage fashion bike as a continuation of a debate on global warming will find its way into Chanel stores.Chanel has decided to launch their most recent fashion accessory: an ergonomically designed bicycle with eight speeds. The bicycle has been integrated into Chanel’s spring/summer 2008 assortment, as legacy of the company inspired by Coco Chanel and her love for sports.
Paul Morland quoted Mademoiselle Coco in his 1996 book –
I have dominated the fashion scene for a quarter of a century. Why? Because I can recognise time. I invented sports clothing for myself.
Not because other women did sports, but because I did them too. In 1914 there were no sports clothes. When women went to sporting events they looked as if in medieval tournaments because of their coned hats.
They had very thin waists and corsets on their hips, legs, everywhere. By inventing the jersey, I got rid of the thin waist and created new silhouettes.
Coco would be proud to be able to ride the Chanel hand-finished bike next year which has leather details with the double C logo. The bicycle will be available in Chanel boutiques in December at a price of 10,000 pounds, Vogue reports.
