The Oregonian: Memorial planned for cyclist killed earlier this week
A memorial bike ride is planned for the cyclist who was killed in a Northeast Portland wreck this week. Riders will leave at 5 p.m. Monday from the Northwest Thurman Street entrance to Forest Park. Organizers say slick, narrow road bike tires are not recommended for the ride. A public memorial service for 31-year-old Brett Jarolimek will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, 1241 N.W. Johnson, where Jarolimek graduated in 2003.
A funeral will be held this weekend in Jarolimek’s hometown of Grangeville, Idaho, BikePortland.org reports.
The blog also reports that Jarolimek will be remembered at this weekend’s Cross Crusade race in Astoria. Organizers say there will be a ceremonial lap around the course before the singlespeed race Sunday, led by his friends and Bike Gallery teammates.
