A man has been questioned by police after a fatal hit-and-run incident on the central Queensland coast. A 44-year-old female cyclist was riding down Targo Street, Bundaberg at about 7pm (AEST) last night when she was struck by a car and died instantly. Police said the car, believed to be a green hatchback, stopped momentarily after the collision then sped off.

A 20-year-old Bundaberg man was spoken to by police today but was released pending further inquiries. A car also was being examined, police said. A post-mortem examination will be held tomorrow on the dead woman and there will be more scientific examinations carried out. Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
